View Full Version : UR does not start minimized

I have UR setup with the following options:

[x] Run Ultra Recall when Windows starts
[x] Minimize application window at startup
[x] Show application icon in system tray
[x] Minimize to system tray
[x] Close button minimizes application window
[x] Esc minimizes application window

Apart from that UR always shows the application window when restarted. It flashes the window once after starting but then it displays the last open item.

The same thing happens on two different machines (one is XP Pro SP2, the other XP Home SP2, both have the latest security patches). I'm using UR 1.4d, but it also happened in 1.4c.

Looks like this has been broken since 1.4a. The main download at http://www.kinook.com/Download/UltraRecallEval.exe has been updated with a fix for this issue.

Now that's what I call a fast reaction! ;)

I can confirm that the issue has been fixed for me. Thanks a lot! :)

I think this is broken again in version 3. Has anyone else noticed that if Minimize on startup is chosen UR isn't minimised when it starts up?

17 Mar 07 6:38 PM Wrong. UR starts minimized but does not remain minimized.

Yes, it seems that this is broken in v3 in most cases. We'll get it fixed for the next update.

v3.0.3 only seems to have fixed this sometimes. When I start UR up first time after booting it isn't minimized; it usually is if I close it down and start it up later.

One possibility: If UR takes more than 2 seconds to start and load (possible if other apps are hogging the CPU at startup), the minimize option will be ignored. You can increase this value by creating a DWORD registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall\Options\StartupMinimizeTime and setting it to a value larger than 2000 decimal (milliseconds). See the attached .reg file.

Thanks, Kinook. That seems to have sorted it out.

Janfrif, I created the key and set it to 4000 decimal.
