Hi,

Couple of questions:

1 - to use 2e I just do the new install over 2d? Will I be asked my registration info again, or will it know that I'm a registered user?

2 - I see that there is a UR viewer. Where can I download it? Can I distribute it or announce the link to my user community?

Thanks.

Regards,
Bal

1) you can simply install 2.0e over 2.0d (or prior). You will not have to re-register.

2) The viewer can be downloaded here (http://www.kinook.com/UltraRecall/viewer.html), and yes, you can distribute it or publish that link to anyone.

For some reason the viewer doesn't work on my machine. It seems to load, but I never see any screen.

Any ideas?

Are you running the viewer while Ultra Recall Standard or Professional is also running? I don't think that will work.

You are right - I was and it now works just fine.

One more question: is there a way to make a UR Pro database read only and un-copy-able, even if someone else has a copy of UR Pro.

I'd like to distribute information that can be read and used, but not copied and altered.

Thanks.

No, there is no way to make a .urd file permanently readonly or block the ability to copy it.

If the file's read-only attribute is set, it will open read-only in UR.

Yeah - that's true, but it's very easy for someone to reset the attribute, yes?

I don't know if this is possible, but maybe give UR Pro the ability to save a file with a different extension (e.g., urr). UR Pro would then require a password for opening the urr file as writable. For anyone without the password, UR Pro would become similar to the UR viewer.

Just a thought.
