text or image for pre-checking external documents

Hi,

it would be great if it will be possible to insert text or an image in the item details pane of an selected item, if there is a document for external viewing/ editing selected.

In other words: Actually I can't see the content or a hint for a document if this document can't show in the internal (browser) viewer.
If I could insert a screenshot or a sample text in the item details pane I could see the necessary facts about the document without the need to open it externally.
