There is now an option to select "Use relative path for file within database folder" when creating a hyperlink.
If an absolute path were, for example, C:\MyDocuments\URData\externalfiles\pictures1
how would one instead specify this directory as a relative path and what would be the benefit?

it would be created relative automatically, if it's under urd file directory structure. The benefit would be in case you move the whole directory where your urd file resides, cause all the links would still work.

Quant - thank you for that. So in the above example of
"C:\MyDocuments\URData\externalfiles\pictures1"
would one enter in the File/URL field merely
"externalfiles\pictures1"
or perhaps
"URData\externalfiles\pictures1"

I dont know where your urd file is. Just drop any file (that resides in or under your urd file location) into any item text and see for yourself ;-)
