Since i use my own contact form, I had never tried this before but today i inserted a contact based on the default template. i populated the form, changed focus to another item & returned to the newly inserted contact. There i tried to click on link to edit externally.
Wordpad opened (I changed this in folder options) but no contact info appeared in the program window.
What should I do to fix this situation? TIA

A contact can only be edited externally (in Outlook) if it was imported from Outlook. For non-Outlook contacts, only the contact's detail text can be edited externally.

The contact? Select it and press Delete.

It's not clear why the Contact template would be useless because the contact attributes can't be edited outside of UR (the same limitation applies for any UR form), but to remove it, move it to via the Link/Move/Copy dialog to an unused folder and delete that folder.

It's not useless but it's useless to me because I can't edit the form. I had to create my own form from scratch in order to get what I want in a contact form.
I would have loved to use the UR default contact form w its action buttons, etc for starters but, unless I missed something (entirely possible) I couldn't alter it.
If my experience is accurate, i.e. not being able to alter the form, I don't know why you don't make it available to users who don't want to sync w Outlook.
