I have stored an Excel sheet within my Ultra Recall database (with as instructed the URL set to .xls). Now I want to reverse that process (so that the Excel sheet is once again outside of UR).
I tried the following: (to me this seems logical)
1. I select the item in UR (the Store Contents button in the toolbar is depressed).
2. I press the Store Contents button (or CTRL+M).
3. A dialog appears: "The stored copy of the item's document will be deleted and may not be recoverable if the original file or web page is no longer available. Do you wish to continue?"
4. If I press Yes, the document is gone (as the warning states). If I press No, nothing happens.
5. I try first changing the URL of the excel file to an existing directory (with a valid filename). This makes no difference.
Suggestions
- Ask the user if he wants to save the document to disk or delete it. If he chooses save, the save dialog appears, if he chooses delete, the document is deleted.
- Make use of the URL; if a valid URL is specified do a Save As of the document in that position. Otherwise return an error that the URL isn't valid.
- AND / OR: Display a save as dialog if the URL isn't valid. That way the document in question can be moved outside of UR.
Workaround
- Copy the Excel sheet out of UR, delete the original and link it again. This loses all it's other data though.
