Under FTS mode, no phone/fax/mobile numbers can be found in Contact items.

It works here. For instance, searching for 999-268-1576 in the Contacts.urd sample finds George Alafand.

Yes, your successful FTS search can be duplicated here as well. Nonetheless, all sample contacts aren't linked with the Outlook.pst. Not sure if the latter could cause the FTS search failure.

I think something is broken....
I agree that the phone numbers search works in the sample contact.urd.

I create a new database with 4.1.0.6, add a contact with a phone number. The search for the phone number returns nothing.

I copy/paste a contact from the sample contact.urd into my new database. The search on a phone number in the pasted contact returns the correct entry.

Hi $Bill,
Thanks for concurring and confirming my gripe about phone numbers not found. Even for Kinook's sample Contacts.urd, it fails too. Try 800, *800*, "*800*", or any combinations. You won't find anything. Actually, it belongs to Comfort Dental in the Business folder.

The screenshot indicates the FTS fails on the sample Contacts.urd.

In fact, for Kinook's sample Contacts.urd, none of the zip codes can be found. Try 91331 or 88221 or any zip codes. It always fails.

There were two different problems:

1) With FTS enabled, an attribute value would not be indexed when adding or editing the attribute (this bug was introduced in the 4.1.0.4 fix for 'String or blog too big importing document with large amount of text').

2) Attribute values 5 characters or less in length were not indexed when enabling FTS (this problem existed since the initial 4.1 build).

These issues are fixed in the latest download (4.1.0.7). For #1, edit the attribute value to reindex the attribute, or do a matches wildcard search on the attribute itself. To resolve #2 on an existing database, disable and then re-enable FTS (Tools | Compact & Repair).

Thanks.

Not sure why Compact & Repair is disabled in the sample Contacts.urd?

Sorry, I didn't know sample URDs read-only. Of course, it would be nice to display [ReadOnly] adjacent to the fileaname at the top. Just my 2 cents.

So far all complex FTS searches of phone/fax/cell numbers and Zipcodes work perfectly. For example, you can search all contacts in zipcodes beginning with 951 using the search string 951*. In addition, you can search, say, 633, embedded anywhere in phone/fax/cell numbers (*633*). That's amazing.
Thanks a lot, Kinook.
