Still evaluating UR, and got a couple of question:

1)
In my tree in Data Explorer I have "folders" with subfolders. In one of these I want to add a text-item. I click on the subfolder, right-click it and select "Insert child" (or Alt+Ins), and then select Text. Is there any easier way to do this? I'm thinking: select the subfolder, then click a combination of keys for "insert Text beneath this subfolder" (e.g. Alt+T) to save myself of two mouse-clicks. Or even better: is it possible to register a hotkey for starting UR (from the statusbar), focus on some kind of favourite-folder and then open a new document (of a given type), ready to type in the title? (all this with *one* key combination).

2)
I try to drag and drop a mail from MS Outlook into the tree in Data Explorer. It works, but pictures in the mail disappears and shows up as a placeholder with the red X in it. Am I doing anything wrong?

UR is looking really promising, btw.

UR is looking really promising, btw. Sometimes IE has trouble displaying some Outlook message formats. You can use Item | Open Document (Ctrl+J) to view the message externally in Outlook with all formatting.

From the Item Attribute Pane (Ctrl-4) you can set the Default Child Template for an Item, either at the Template level or the Item level, then the Insert key will create the default child.

Great tip, thank you!

Just wanting to be sure that you realize that you are not limited to the default group of Templates supplied in the Templates folder, and that you can create your own Templates and assign these user created Templates their own respective Default Child Template value.

Yes, thank you, I've seen that I can make my own templates or modify the existing ones, but right now it seems that the standard templates cover my needs. When I learn more about how UR an be used and exactly what I can use it for (turns out this is one very flexible piece of software, judging from what I can read in this forum) I guess I can see better if I need to make my own templates.

Hm, can't seem to get this to work. When I press Ctrl+J (or select it from the menu) I get something like "No access" (or, the norwegian version of that message). Can't open attachments from the mail I have dragged into UR either, but the attachments are listed in the header.

EDIT: Am I missing something, Outlook integration or something?

Incredible, I now can open the message in Outlook with Ctrl+J, thank you. But if I delete the message in Outlook, I can no longer launch it from UR, it seems? Does this mean I've saved a link to the message instead of the message?

Sounds like it. The indicators of a stored vs. linked document:

1) Title in the Item Details pane is suffixed with ' [Stored]'
2) Item | Store Contents menu item / toolbar button are depressed
3) Existence of Document Size attribute (Item Attributes pane).

When dropping a message in UR, hold down the Ctrl key to force it to store.

When pasting, use Edit | Paste Special | Copy (or Ctrl+Shift+V).

Or use the Outlook UR toolbar Copy to UR button.

Or check Tools | Options | Import | Store contents when importing and syncing files and Outlook items (will cause the default drag/drop, copy/paste behavior, and sync behavior be to store rather than link).
