Hi:

Happy new year.

I am using the latest update. I think something changed at the New York Times site because clipping no longer captures images from the articles. I confirm it worked before without any problem.

Try any article at nytimes.com

Any suggestions?

Jon

I'm able to see images in UR using this procedure ...

- Select text & image from https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/02/us/politics/trump-congress-shutdown.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

- Copy to clipboard
- Use clipboard import shortcut keys
- click OK on dialogue box

Thanks, but it is not working here. Other programs I use have had this problem recently and the developers had to make some adjustments to restore this functionality. But I confirm that selecting text and images, CTRL+C, WIN+V does not capture images. All I see are placeholders where the images should appear. The option to download images is checked.

I am using Firefox if that matters.

Importing as RTF whether via copy/paste, drag from internal browser to (tree or editor), or from browser to (tree or editor) does not do images. My setup using latest release of UR, has not done it in a while.

It does work with any of the above methods if importing as HTML.

If I have a need to import images to an RTF item, I open external 'ctrl+j' to MS Word and paste the HTML content. Images are preserved.

I got same behavior regardless of what browser I use including IE, FF, Chrome, and Edge.

Thanks

Thank you. Similar to mine except I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Perhaps there are setting under options which affect this, but no settings have been changed from before I had this problem.

I'm using much more recent version of this DDL

RICHED20.DLL version 16.0.6925.1014 (mine)
riched20.dll version 5.50.99.2050 (yours)

See if you get same results with a newer release.

Thanks

I updated RICHED20.DLL, but get the same results. Honestly, I would have been happily surprised if this worked because I am not importing rtf.

I suppose Kyle is away for the holidays. Perhaps he can contribute.

Because of my experience with other programs and the way they have failed to copy images from nytimes.com (they formerly were able to, failed, and then were fixed), I think this is the same problem. All reported that something changed with the website for which adjustments were necessary.

Thank you for your suggestions and efforts on my behalf.

Those aren't images at

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/02/us/politics/trump-congress-shutdown.html

They're videos.

I selected text and an image from this page in Firefox 64.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/04/us/politics/gerrymandering-supreme-court.html

and it imported correctly into UR.

Yes, I understand that videos are not copied. That page was a bad example. The problem I am having is that all images from all other pages containing images are not being copied. They display only as placeholders. Other programs I use have had this problem and upon reporting this to the developer, they were able to fix it. In addition to idiosyncrasies on the website, would this have anything to do with my version of IE? I never use it and have never updated it. If this is an IE problem, then my question is why? I am copying from Firefox, not IE. I would prefer not updating IE because, aside from this issue, everything is working perfectly on my computer and I don't want to deal with IE breaking anything.

Thank you for your help with this.

Images are displaying in my tests.

UR does use a) the Wininet APIs to download web content and b) an embedded instance of IE to render web pages, so I would recommend updating to the latest version (not to mention that is good idea for security reasons anyway).

You may also want to consider updating to Windows 10, as Windows 7 is getting a little long in the tooth.
