Nothing comes close to URp in my experience, however I will look at RightNotes as I hadn't come across this before, thank you!

I'm OK with the zip file distribution as I use URp in a portable manner, i.e., I don't usually install it. The 3 functions that are handled automatically by the install for my use (*.urd association, UR protocol and RTF control registration) I handle using *.reg file import and the regsvr32 command, so not a deal breaker though this may put novices off I'm sure.

Perhaps one of those Web-based whipround websites (GoFundMe-like) might be a way to take the financial hit off kinook in terms of signing and certification software, perhaps coupled with a bounty scheme for enhancements, I'd contribute to the latter. Of cource, kinook may just be be looking for an easier life after 20-odd years developing URp!

Just like you, I've been an UR user for a long time ~ 20 years. How are you feeling regarding the future of UR in light of the recent changes made of distributing UR via zip files, and an one-off executables. This looked a significant regression for UR and not a good sign of its future.

I'm doing everything I can to keep supporting its development e.g. active in the forums, donate regularly, help fix bugs, spread the word on other forums, etc.

Have you found any other app similar to UR on Windows or Mac as a backup plan? I have not. I tried modern apps developed using web technologies like Obsidian, Notion, etc. Or, native apps like MyInfo or RightNotes. For my use case, UR is KING

I have also been thinking about what other creative ideas are there to support UR.
