1. The UR calendar is just one little "cute" feature in UR. Why is it so important in the context of UR?
2. Is UR coded in Visual C++? 3. Will Kinook expose the objects used in UR? 4. Is VBA needed in UR to expend its functionality? 5. How should the UDF ("user defined function" invented by Tom Rettig in the ancient Xbase era) be implemented in UR? 6. Are you asking for a total replacement of Outlook? What are the pros and cons of the UR+OL integration? Sorry for questions and more questoins. Armstrong |
I don't know the answers. I do know I want a calendar (amongst other things) to help organize my life more easily. Your other questions are over my head.

I fail to understand the people who think the calendar is unimportant or 'cute' little thing. A calendar is THE crucial tool in time-management and any software proporting to be a utility to aid organisation must have a decent implementation of it. I now use outlook ONLY for the calendar functionality and it is a pain to maintain data synchronising between the two. If UR had a calendar I'd ditch outlook immediately. Well actually that's a lie - I'd need UR to be able to sync the calendar with my PDA via Activesync but one step at a time... Dan |
UR induced evolution:
First, UR replaced my use of Outlook's task manager and notes. (and I consolidated the rest of my data linking and storage in UR). I synced my contacts in Outlook with UR. Gmail's web interface has replaced Outlook for email. I bought an OQO so I have my data with me and no longer need a smart phone or Outlook to sync with it. Kinook should ask for a commission. So now I use Outlook (not Exchange) only for the calendar...such a pig for just a calendar. So I am looking for a replacement. Google Calendar (with offline access when available) or an upgrade of UR's calendar as discussed in this thread look promising as replacements. In my priority scale, I would move it to about the middle of the top third of the revised list. |

Hi $bill,

BTW, OQO was used by agent Ethan Hunt in MI3. $bill, can you read the fine characters on the small screen? Do you run UR on your OQO? Is the performance acceptable? How do you like your OQO? Do you recommand it to the senior citizens? Armstrong |
