Single window mode in 2.0?

I love the database toolbar. I have multiple db's open all the time and switching is now a breeze.

But... can UR 2.0 be run in single window mode? Alt-Tab switching, minimizing and closing multiple db windows can really slow navigation. This has become a standard model for many other apps (Office apps, Acrobat etc.) and I hate it... :-(

I know i'm just stating the obvious, but can't you just not ever bring up nodes in a new window?

Not currently. Like recent versions of Office, UR implements MSDI (multi SDI) as opposed to MDI. Enabling 'Tools | Options | General | Minimize to system tray' and minimizing unused dbs may make things more useable. Also see

One advantage of the separate top-level windows is that if a long-running operation (for instance, importing) is happening in one database, you can still switch to and do stuff in another database (although you must switch via the task bar or Alt+Tab rather than the document toolbar in this situation).

Some Alt+Tab extenders/replacements that can also be helpful:

I played around with cycling through the database windows and found something that's reasonable. The "minimize to system tray" option helps... thanks.

I remember programming SDI and MDI stuff with the original Win32 API in C (now I've dated myself). I guess I was thinking along the lines of MDI.... but now you say there's also MSDI. Ye gads. Is still think it's a clunky user interface model.

Thanks kinook. This release is sweet.
