Join/combine command

I see this was discussed back in August and I'm wondering if kinook has had any further thoughts about implementing this useful command? I have to ask here because I don't even see it on the roadmap..... unless, of course, I've missed it. ;-)

I seem to remember that discussion. It had to do with Info Select's ability to join/combine items. The limitation of IS' method is that all items must be at the same outline level. Another is that they must be of the same type.

UR has a cumbersome feature that can be used at all outline levels. If you tick "Show combined text for multiple selection," you will see in the detail pane the effect of the "join." Simply copy and paste the whole pane as a new item and you are done. It is nice that you are not limited by outline level (I have to rearrange everything in IS to accomplish a noncontiguous join) and you can preview the join.

Does this help?

Jon

Yes, thank you but I'd rather see a join command. Maybe Kinook can respond about this wished for command. Kinook?

Personally, I like the way Kinook implements this, though an express Join command would be nice. I'd also like a split by delimiter command instead of having to parse text files.

Bal

An added join command, not a replacement for current function was my intent (tho not clear from the above post) & I agree about splitting.
