Way to suppress individual steps from the logging
I am trying to figure out how to suppress individual steps from going to the log file. I know there is an example of how to stop logging but it still logs the step that disables the logging or am I missing something?

In the current version, you can't prevent the step that disables logging from being logged. The next release will support adding custom script code to pre- and post-step events which would allow you to achieve this.
