Calender - Highlight Today
 

Calender (alt+c) to highlight 'today' box and have button 'go to today' so you can quickly find 'home' when you get lost in the future =)

Today is always selected when the calendar is shown. You can also click on 'Today: m/d/yyyy' at the bottom of the dialog (above the buttons) to reselect today if you've selected another day.

ah! didn't realise that text was clickable! (perhaps an underline would be more obvious?)

I still think it would be nice to have a subtle say, 1px red border around the Today number. It's an easy visual guide that really don't change the way UR works at all and I don't see any downside to it.

A lot of calendar aps have some sort of today indicator and people get used to looking for this visual.
