PDF item filled with gibberish

Hello,

When I drag a particular PDF from Windows Explorer to UR the item is filled with gibberish. With another PDF there is nothing but a neat "Click here to open linked document".

Cntrl+J to open the document works OK, but I wondered if anything is wrong for the linking option to not be available.

Are you using the "Standard" version of Ultra Recall? If so, it doesn't support .pdf files (the "Professional" version does).

If you are using the Pro version, can you post an example pdf file here (or email it to support@kinook.com)?

Ah, that explains it then. I'm using the Standard version.

After re-reading your post, I believe that even Ultra Recall Standard should store and display .pdf files properly, it just won't parse them for keywords.

Please provide where the pdf file was imported from (a web url or locally) and the pdf file itself for our evaluation (perhaps something else is causing this unwanted behaviour).

Hi

I've emailed the (rather large) PDF.

This only seems to be happening with larger sized PDFs.

pdf doesn't display inside UR

Hi,

I have the pro version of UR. When I bring in a pdf what I see is a link to open it rather than the contents of the file itself.

Is this the expected behavior? Is there a setting inside the options dialog that needs to be set?

Thanks much.

Regards,
Bal

Addendum: figured it out! In the options dialog, the extensions of the files to be veiwed with an internal browser need to be preceded with a dot. Thus:

incorrect: pdf
correct: .pdf

Works beautifully. Well done. :)
