dismiss recurring outside of reminder dialog

sometimes I'm looking at a list of reminders that are upcoming & recurring & realize that one or more reminders are superfluous so I want to dismiss them so they jump to the next occurrence.

However, it seems I cannot dismiss unless reminder comes up.

Is it possible to change this so user can dismiss from related pane as well? Didn't see command in command list to customize.
