Beefed up sorting

Right now I can sort siblings - in ascending order.

I'd like to be able to sort:

- children
- by date
- by flag

etc.

I can do some of these from within the related items panes, but that's not the same as being able to do it in the Data Explorer.

Also - it would be nice if I could set the sort function in the item attributes pane. I envision two fields to accomplish this. #1 would let me tell UR whether an item's children should be sorted. #2 would specify the kind of sort.

Finally - for now - it would be oh-so- cool to be able to do secondary and even tertiary sorts. That's probably asking way too much, but I just wanted to make the suggestion ...

IMHO - In general, things I can do in the related items panes ought to be doable from the DE unless it really makes no sense or is overly difficult and/or expensive to implement.

thanks

Bal

- Another thought: I'd like to be able to sort on two other things - in both ascending and descending order:

* the size (disk space) that a node and its children take up and

* the number of descendants (children, grandkids, great grandkids, etc.)

If you uncheck the Alphabetical sort when adding children to new items check box on the Trees tab of the Tools | Options dialog, Ultra Recall will use the order inserted as the sort in tree.

In addition, you can always switch to a manual ordering by simply ordering the siblings "by hand" using drag & drop, or with the keyboard (Ctrl+Shift+UP or DOWN).

You can later switch back to alphabetical ordering if desired with the menu (Tree | Sort Siblings) - or by right-clicking on an item and clicking the same entry.

The next version of UR will support sorting in manual tree order in the Related Items pane (via the new Tree Order attribute).
