URP and network drives
Hi,
I recently set up a network drive on one of my domains, using NetDrive. I have a netbook computer, and use the USB version of URP and a desktop computer, and use the full version of URP. NetDrive lets me assign a drive letter to the domain location, letting me treat my domain as a network drive, which is slick - except... When I save a URP file to that drive using my desktop and open it using my netbook machine, the most recent saves don't show up. But when I reopen the file using the desktop they are just as I saved them. The only thing I can think of is that there's a cached version of the file somewhere and that one or both versions of URP are accessing their own respective caches rather than the file that is actually out there. Is this guess accurate? If so, is there a way to force both versions of URP to read the actual file? If there is no cache, any other idea about what might be causing what I'm reporting? Thanks. Regards, Bal |

UR doesn't cache changes elsewhere; they are committed to the database file immediately. Something else (NetDrive?) must be doing that.

There isn't much detailed information on NetDrive's website but a clue is in the System Requirements:
"HDD Space: 1-2 GB of free disk space (for caching files being uploaded)" |

Thanks!
Thanks guys.
I'll bet it is netdrive... I have some tests to run. Regards, Bal |

I use NetDrive to map my Toppy (video recorder) as a drive and I've noticed that file operations can take a long time. If you open its status window you can observe the progress of its ftp commands.
