Javascript Errors

I often receive Javascript errors when navigating to web pages using UR's embedded browser. I do NOT receive these errors when viewing the same pages in IE. I'm using the following settings in IE:

Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) - ON
Disable Script Debugging (Other) - ON
Display a notification about every script error - OFF

I did some research on this and it turns out that the settings shown above are only applicable when running IE as a standalone browser. When the IE web browser control is embedded in other applications, the developer must implement additional error handling to trap Javascript errors.

Microsoft has documented the procedure in the following knowledgebase articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279535
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/261003/

The first article applies to Visual Basic, but I assume the procedure for Visual C++ would be similar.

I would like to request that this error handling be added to UR. It would make the embedded browser a lot more useful if annoying Javascript errors could be eliminated.

Do you have 'Tools | Options | Browser | Block dialogs in internal browser' checked (check, OK and restart if not)? Otherwise, Please ZIP and send to support@kinook.com:
1) The info from Help | About | Install Info
2) Run RegEdit and export the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall\Options"
3) Some URLs resulting in errors
4) Screen shots of the error messages

Thanks.

Javascript Errors (cont...)

The other thread was closed, so I had to start a new thread for this. I enabled the "Block dialogs in internal browser" and it did correct the problem. However, doesn't this mean that ALL dialogs will now be blocked? If that's true, then this solution seems like kind of a crude workaround, because there are many dialogs that serve a purpose other than reporting a Javascript error.

I think it would be better if you added error handling logic as described in the Microsoft Knowledgebase articles.

I also received a javascript error with an imported webpage as well. I looked at UR's options and it is set to block dialogs as well.

Did you ever figure out a workaround for this?

Thanks

We've never seen a JavaScript error popup in UR with the block options checked.

I got it for a link for an item on Amazon.com. I can take a screenshot of it if you would like to see it.
