Pdf

Why do PDFs imported to UR result in error messages. I am unable to get a copy of a PDF into UR without receiving an error message.

Is UR capable of storing PDFs, or is it necessary to save a PDF to a regular My Documents folder and then link to UR/

Thank you.

Daly

Daly,

Although I'm not getting an error when Importing a pdf, what I am seeing is very long importation times, especially with larger pdfs (2mb and up). This appears to be attributable to the keyword indexing that is going on during the import.

I've removed the .pdf extension from the Tools-Options-Documents-Import - File extensions to keyword area, and the imports are much faster.

Not sure yet if the lack of keywording is going to be a probelm, probably not if your just using UR for file storage or linking - course this elimanates searching inside the pdfs.

Just some observations.

Later,
KenA

PDFs import OK in our tests and regular usage. Can you ZIP and send:
1) The info from Help | About | Install Info
2) Run RegEdit and export the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall\Options"
3) The error message that is displayed
4) One or two PDF files that cause this problem

Thanks.
