Hyperlink Properties Behavior
Hyperlinks created using the Insert Hyperlink command behave differently from ones created automatically by UR when you paste a URL into a text item.
In the former case, right-clicking and selecting Hyperlink Properties correctly displays the text and URL in the hyperlink properties dialog. In the latter case, the hyperlink properties dialog is empty. What it should do (IMO) is show the URL in the Text text box as well as the File/URL text box (the way it works in WORD or Outlook). Then you could enter a name for the URL. A second annoyance is if you highlight the URL--in order to copy and paste it into a new Insert Hyperlink dialog--UR interrupts your action by automatically navigating to the URL. Unless this is fixed, we'll have to remember to always Insert Hyperlink instead of pasting a URL and trying to give it a text label after the fact. |

Yes, this is annoying.
Except what I've found is that regardless of how the hyperlink has been pasted (or drag-drop from browser address area) into the Text Viewer, the Hyperlink Properties dialog is empty when invoked by the right click. Seems to me that if you've got a hyperlink in the clipboard, then invoking Insert Hyperlink should populate the File/URL field allowing you to simply type a text label for the link. Also, if you right-click on an existing hyperlink you are intending to set focus on a single "word" or text string. |

I agree. When we paste or drag and drop a URL into a text item, it's nice that UR recognizes and automatically turns it into a hyperlink, but it should behave exactly like hyperlinks created using the Insert Hyperlink action. URL can be used to populate the Text field until the user decides to replace it with a friendly name.
And highlighting a hyperlink should NOT behave like a left-click or an Open command. In hindsight, this probably should have been posted under Suggestions, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me! |

Kinook, should I move this thread to Suggestions? If so, what's the best way--copy and paste into a new post over there?
Edit: Thanks (for moving). Last edited by mikeg; 12-22-2007 at 10:58 PM. |

kinook, just want to say hyperlink behavior (as of 3.5b) is now flawless as far as I'm concerned. Thanks!
