Re-indenting a document using tab stops
I can't for the life of me understand the tab stops thing
Ok so I create a simple outline, like for example:
I then want to make the indent size bigger on this outline so I Select all go format -> tabs -> clear all -> type 50 in tab stops input -> Set -> OK and nothing happens Any help on how to make it work ? Thx! |

For a bulleted list, I believe that changing tab stops only affects subsequent indenting/unindenting and not existing indents.

so does that mean there is no way to change the tab stops of existing indents ?
what selection is affected by changing tab stops ? it does not seem to work on simple indented text as well .. the manual says "The Tabs dialog is used to set tab stops for the current selection in the Rich Text Editor." Last edited by mika; 02-07-2015 at 05:56 AM. |

Not for bulleted text, but WordPad doesn't even appear to use the tab stops for indent/unindent at all. See this screen recording: http://www.kinook.com/Download/Temp/tabs.7z

Thank you for the explanation and the video.
I am still confused about this, there seems to be 2 issues: - tab stops - indents/bulletin-points sizes(/stops) I am not clear of the relationship between the two, are they the same ? does the tab stops settig in UR relates to both ? Perhaps the best thing is to describe what I'm trying to achieve .. I use bulletin point outlines _a lot_, it is in fact my main way of dealing with information. I want my bulletin points outlines to align properly, by that I mean that the letter or bulletin of a sub outline will perfectly align with the first letter of the bulletin point above it so for example if I have
I want everything under b, that is the letter 'i' and the bulletin points of 'x' and 'y' to align exactly under the letter 'b' does that makes sense ? (as you can see I could not properly create it with this forum's interface) I want that to be a global setting so it is the default for any bulletin points/indent in any document, also I need a way to format existing text like that. I would really appreciate any help with this ? is this possible in UR ? if not is there a way to approximate it ? Thanks for your help |

If you're wanting non-bulleted and bulleted text to align, I think you can do that by setting a tab stop for the bullet another for the indented text. For instance, I used tab stops of 500, 740, 1000, and 1240 to format like below.
If you select the Text template (My Data -> Templates -> Text in the tree), select all in the editor, and set the desired tab stops in that item, then all Text items that are created will have those tab stops. |
