v2 enhancement question
What does this mean (from the v2 enhancements):
4) Make limited searches return limited Indent Level and Lineage values. |

That probably should have read:
4) Make limited searches return relative Indent Level and Lineage values. Previously the Indent Level and Lineage were always returned absolute values (from the root of the database), with version 2.0 these virtual attributes are relative to the info item which is the "root" of limited searches... |

ok, that makes sense.
For the record, I would still really like to be able to include Lineage in keywords, even if only an option. |

First, the Lineage attribute is already searchable.
Secondly, the Lineage attribute is "virtual" -- meaning the values are computed when the attribute is searched or displayed -- the data is dynamic. The values change based on where the item is located in the tree (like when you move an item or any of its [grand]parent(s)). Are you asking for the lineage "words" to "appear" to be keywords of items? What benefit would this provide? I can't think of any, but I could see it confusing the average user... |

We already had this discussion
http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthre...hlight=lineage and no one jumped in to support me, so I won't re-hash the details here. My workaround is to manually assign keywords to an item that include words from its lineage. (I know there is a lineage search but I need to be able to quickly search for keywords and lineage in one search without creating a OR search and entering the search term twice). |
