portable ultrarecall
Hello,
I use Ultrarecall since a few weeks and it's really a great software. Meanwhile, I rely so heavily on my journal I'm maintaining in UR that I wanted to have it on USB stick. I downloaded the “UR Portable ZIP File” and uncompressed it on a USB stick. But when I use it on another computer than mine a few things do not work: - I miss my custom window lay-outs - I miss my custom spell-check directory - UR runs as unregistered version I realized that the custom window lay-outs and directory are stored in Application Data\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall. How can I have UR to use another directory? How can I have a licensed version of UR on the memory stick? Regards Harald |

When UR detects that the drive it's run from is removable, it reads/writes that information from files in the .exe path (otherwise, they are stored at %APPDATA%\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall). Examine the timestamps of
1) Layout*.dat in the UltraRecall.exe path on the USB drive 2) %APPDATA%\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall\Layout*.dat after exiting the portable version. If the changes are in #2, it may not be identifying your drive as removable. What sort of USB drive do you have? |
