drag/drop mistake

I can almost swear to this but I have had 2 or 3 situations in which I was d/d an item from imported items to another location. However, the pointing was one item off & instead of dropping on the proper item, item was dropped on item just below.

ALT-L Move or Drag item 2 -> Point to or Drop on c3
Result = D moved right 2 steps & item 2 below it

Anyone else experience anything similar & think it was your own mistake?
