Handling OL Attachments/MSGs
Kinook,
I would like get some clarification on how does UR handle OL msgs containing attachments. When I copy such a MSG, it goes just fine to UR but the MSG viewer indicates... 'Attachments: Not Available' The tab has 'stored' in the title. Can you please address these concerns... 1- With above said, I assume the entire MSG and its attachment are stored in UR, right? 2- What effect does moving/deleting a MSG from OL if it was originally linked to UR? Thanks |

If stored, the entire .msg is stored (you can verify by exporting as a document or opening externally). We did find a bug related to showing an Outlook message details and attachment info in UR, which is fixed in 2.0d. After deleting a .msg in OL that is stored in UR, the message will still be available in UR, but the OL linked copy will no longer be accessible.

Does that mean that if we stored messages prior to v2.0d and those message have been deleted from Outlook that we can't get to them in UR?
What if we CAN restore the Outlook message base? Will the message relink and re-retrieve the data and store it? OR do we have to "resend" them to UR? Thanks. David |

No, the bug had to do with displaying the stored email, it didn't affect how or what was stored.
Any file/email stored in Ultra Recall is persisted (and later accessible) in the original form. The linkage between a stored/linked outlook message and the actual Outlook store message is the url value. If a deleted store message is restored (with the original outlook:xxx url), then the linkage will be restored. If the url is different when restored, you can change the url attribute value in Ultra Recall to "relink" them (you can get the url for an Outlook item with a free tool called Linker for Windows). |
