Next Major Release?
I'm looking at purchasing a UR Professional license in the near future but am curious as to whether there are any plans for a major release in the coming months.
I only ask as I was burnt once before on a software purchase when a new version was released a few months later and the vendor forced me to pay an upgrade fee despite falling outside their 'grace period' by little more than a month. Bear in mind that they were only releasing new major versions every couple of years so I felt like a victim of bad timing! Given UR v2.0 came out May 2006 and v3.0 was released March 2007, I'm wondering if v4.0 is in the wings and I'm better off waiting a couple of months before pulling the purchasing trigger? Thanks. |

A major (paid) release is not imminent. v3.5, a free update for v3 customers, will be released soon. v2 was actually a free update. v3 was the first non-free update and was released about 2 1/2 years after v1.

Let me just add - that the incremental updates that Kinook does are wonderful. And some of them FEEL like they're major updates, no matter how they're numbered.
I was one of the chief proponents of "hoisting" for example, and after I and a lot of other people asked for it (somewhat "persuasively") , Kinook did FAR BETTER than I had hoped for. So don't just go by numbering. Go by their history of service. Truly a remarkable software under excellent management. Go Kinook! Regards, Bal |

Don't bother.
kinook has just released v3.5 which is a free upgrade. Take a look at the version history .(http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthre...&threadid=3640) In my opinion, this this is a major upgrade and it could be v4. kinook is a very fair company and is listening to the users even they don't comment each feature request (I wouldn't do that either...).
