Is there an easy way to duplicate column selection & order from one item to another?

If the items have the same template, you can customize one item's columns, Set as Default (from column header right-click menu), then other items of that template will use those settings (unless they were customized too -- use Restore Defaults on right-click menu to use the template's settings).
