Can Import be done in the background thread ?
Hello,
I am huge fan and user of Ultrarecall ..Well done!!! When I import a windows directory tree... Ultrarecall - takes up to 5-10 minutes import: 8.72 MB which is 11 files and 3 folders (*I want to keep the folder structure , the contents of files as well but not as important) The problem is that during the import I can not use UC as the import blocks me. It sometimes takes a such a long time (for some reason) that I just have to cancel the import or it completes without actually importing ... * store contents in UC is not checked Questions: 1. Does UC have the ability to background thread the import to allow other actions ? 2. Does UC have the capability to indicate % complete of importing and or the approx time to import (kind of a download meter) 3. Is there a way to import a folder recursively without importing the contents to speed things up |

I guess
1. no 2. no 3. yes. On the file->import choose folder, which then gives you several options, choose to process files in subfolders, recreate the dir structure and if you want to speed things up choose not to store the content and not to process documents for text etc ... in that case UR is importing at the speed of about 2.5 files per second irrespective of the file size. It will recreate the dir structure but you won't be able to search inside the files for text as they are not indexed (only the file name). |
