Font Woes Redux

I hate to resurrect a problem that involves MS's infamously annoying riched20.dll, but here goes.

In the third post (titled "FONT WOES") on the following thread (titled "Font Weirdness") you can see an attached image:

http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthre...t=font+unicode

As I said in the post, the intruding red font is Tahoma (bad) and the black font is Gentium (a Greek unicode font, which is the one I want). As instructed by Kinook, I fiddled with the .dll, but to no avail. I am wondering if Kinook has any new insights into how this problem could be solved?

I am using UR Pro 4.1c and Windows 7.

Please ZIP and send a .urd file with the item shown above to support@kinook.com, along with the other information requested at http://www.kinook.com/Forum/showthre...?threadid=3038. Thanks.

The .urd you sent has Matthew 1, not Genesis 7. Either send the verses matching the screen shot above, or a screen shot of the verses you sent, highlighting the incorrect letters. And also send

1) The info from Help | About | Install Info.

2) Run RegEdit and export the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall. Type Win+R (to show the Run dialog), type regedit and press Enter (to start RegEdit), navigate to the above location, and use File | Export on the menu to save it as a .reg file.

Thanks.

You didn't send your install info, so I don't know which version you're using, but I tested with the following versions of riched20.dll, and the font displayed properly in most versions:

+ 5.30.23.1230 (included with Windows XP)
+ 5.31.23.1229 (included with Windows 7)
+ 5.40.11.2210 (installed with Office XP)
- 5.50.99.2050 (installed with Office 2003 and UR 'install rich edit control with table support' option)
+ 12.0.4518.1014 (installed with Office 2007)

You will need to use a version of riched20.dll that displays the font properly. See here for more details:

Thanks.

Problem Solved!

Thanks, Kinook, for your patient help. I took your advice and installed the Windows 7 .dll (v5.31.23.12297), and now the Gentium unicode font appears to be working properly in UR's Info Items. The culprit was MS, as expected.
