Two Notes
It appears at least 2 notes allowed for each Info Item, namely:
1. the area below the user-defined form; 2. the area in the Item Notes pane. Unlike other attributes such as URL, these two Notes are independent. Questions: 1. What are the technical differences between these two notes? 2. Are both "keyworded" by UR? It seems so. 3. Why are two notes, instead of one? Armstrong |

armsys,
The area below the Form is actually the internal browser or Detail Pane. If your Item is based on a Text Template (or one of the Outlook derivatives) this area will allow for text (rtf). By assigning a Form to a Template you create a "data header" for the Detail Pane. The Item Notes Pane is also an rtf editor - additional notes for an Item, or if the Item were of the Document Type a means to store rtf for the Item. |

Hi ashwken,
Thanks for your very in-depth explanation. I don't see it in the manual. Since they are two different entities, are they given any Attribute names? BTW, you also mentioned about the Form. Do you mean a Form is actually the data header of the Info Item or the Detail Pane? Many thanks for your help. Armstrong |

Quote:
The thing to understand is that the Detail Pane is the internal browser, what it will render is determined by the type of Template an Item is derived from. Most of the Templates (and Outlook objects) are based on rtf, so that rtf (text) is displayed (rendered) in the Detail Pane. If an Item is based on the Document Template, then the Detail Pane is going to render the data file - depending on the type of data file it is (see Tools | Options | Documents and Broswer). Quote:
If you do not assign a Form to a Template, the "body" of the Detail Pane will be all that is shown. Hoping this hasn't muddied the waters. |

ashwken,
Thanks for your guidance. Yes, I miss it when reading the manual. Both Item Text and Item Notes (attributed) are located under the header "Virtual Attributes." Your explanation of the relationship amongst the form, th edata headers, the internal browser, the "body", and Detail Form adds enormous clarity. Thanks ashwken. Happy New Year! Armstrong |
