Edit using Word via OLE, etc.?

If I click on a link to a .doc document, UR lets me edit within UR and gives me some of the Word menus.

1. It does NOT give me the SAVE AS option.

2. It would be nice if you could edit ANY Item's content (which is RTF, right) this way instead of using the reduced editing feature set in UR or having to launch Word in a seperate document.

Any way to do that?

1. Use the Save button on the Word toolbar.

2. http://www.kinook.com/UR/Manual/internaloleedit.htm

Prompts me to save Item text

When I set UR to edit Item text using MS Word it prompts me to save the text every time I modify an Item and the foxus leaves that Item.

Any way around that?

You need to Save via the Word toolbar in the Detail Pane Viewer Area, or answer yes to the UR dialog.

I'm curious as to how others find the responsiveness of this usage, I'm seeing a noticable lag while UR loads Word, but this may be an issue with my system (Celeron 1.3ghz 896mb).

OK, so you need to explicitly save every time time you edit.

Yes, the edit function has been turned over to Word - UR sends a call to Word, which launches a temporary instance of Word where all the editing takes place.

The act of adding the .rtf extension to Tools | Options | Browser - file extensions to display... controls the behavior of the Detail Pane Viewer (which is the Browser), if Word is present it will be used as the default method of rendering .rtf (over riding the UR rtf editor).

While I can see the advantage to this, I'm curious what level of hardware allows for acceptable performance.

For me, I think it'll always be to slow (especially with needing to click the SAVE button everytime).

And I have a 3 ghz Duo Core CPU with 3 GB of RAM.
