FTS -> Can't import large pdf-files

After compacting my database using the FTS option I can no longer import large pdf files (either linked or stored).

There is an error message
"Error pasting data: Error importing '<filename>': string or blob too big"

This behaviour does not depend purely on file size: most pdfs larger than 5 MB don't get imported, but some do. So maybe its a function of the actual amount of text in the pdf.

I can import large files when FTS enhancements are disabled.
If I enable FTS again, the large files are still ok and their content is shown as text in the item details pane. Searching works fine.

Also, I can import large pdfs into a second database without FTS, then convert that database to use FTS and finally copy the large items into my main database.

So, obviously, UR can handle large pdfs with FTS enabled, just not import them.

kinook, can you shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance
Doris

Thanks, Kinook, it's great that you fix problems so quickly.

One small annoyance, however: last time I installed a new version (4.1.0.3) I lost all my user settings.
Is there a way to avoid that in future?

Doris

That should only happen if you uninstall first (not necessary) and choose to delete customizations. You can also manually backup and restore settings.
