Question ? Can I modify existing template forms...

... is there a way to modify the Contact template's form, deleting fields and re-labeling them to create a form in the Item Details pane with an entirely different appearance?

In other words, let's say I want to inventory my software using a form with 4 fields: Application Name, Version#, Date, and Key. Can I modify an existing template or create a fielded template similar to but simpler than the Contact template?

I don't mean creating fields in the Item Attributes pane, which does work, but is not exactly what I would like to do.

Currently this is not available with Ultra Recall.

Modifying the Contacts Item Details Pane form, or creating new "forms" is on the feature request list but is not yet scheduled for implementation.

has anybody found

I'm wondering if anyone has found any software with similar capabilities and accepts formated data (my definition) from a form (like a database record)

All of these support data-entry Forms to one degree or another; some support Cloning (Logical-Linking of nodes), a crucial feature for any relational implementation.

There may be other programs that offer Forms support.

I was surprized to learn that UR does NOT support Forms, but my surprize was due to my misunderstanding of the feature set presented.

Seems to me that it would be nice to have the ability to do both free-form and structured data within an outline presentation; the authors of UR have shown with the Contact Template that Forms can be done....

Other interesting things I've found

http://www.kurucz.ca/research/features.htm

and
http://www.sultanhesari.com/researchsoftware.htm

These 2 sites compare many tools.

I also like
Idea

http://www.sycon.de/eng/produkte/idea/index.htm

but it also does not handle structured data
