Improve Table Presentation

The riched20.dll in my Windows System32 folder was only version 5.30.23.1211, and UR did not show tables very well.

I copied riched20.dll version 5.50.99.2009 into UR's program folder and table presentation improved.

Carissa, can you post the download link for the more recent version of riched20.dll ?

TIA
alx

P.S. What Windows version are you using; 2000 or XP?

I got the dll from my Microsoft Office 11 Folder. If you don't have this, you could try Googling the name and version number. It should be easy enough to find.

I'm using xp.

Interestingly, I installed version 5.50.99.2009 of the riched20.dll I did and tables looked fine, but the UltraRecall "Click Here to Open Linked/Stored Document" hyperlinks stopped working; this happened in both my Windows 2000 and XP installations.

I eventually reverted to the intermediate version 5.30.23.1215 of the DLL which provided adequate formatting while maintaining operation of the links.

This all happened sometime ago (UR v1.2) and I forgot to post it then; I'm just mentioning this now in case anybody else notices a strange behaviour of links.

In any case, I'll probably try the newest DLL again, this time with UR1.4, and see what happens. I liked the beefed up table formatting it provided.

Incidentally, I didn't find a download link for these DLLs anywhere; I eventually got the intermediate version from the installation of an older version of MS Office (2000).

If riched20.dll versions make a difference like that, perhaps UR should ship with it (locating it in the same directory as the UR EXE should cause that local one to be used)?

There are several issues with redistributing a "preferred" riched20.dll with Ultra Recall:
- significantly increased Ultra Recall installation file size
- potential compatibility issues with the wide range of Windows versions and languages, etc
- Microsoft rules prevent this file from being redistributed

One note of potential clarification, below are some typical paths to this file for late versions of Microsoft Office:
- Office XP: c:\program files\common files\Microsoft Shared\Office10\
- Office 2003: c:\program files\common files\Microsoft Shared\Office11\

Obviously the rules are the biggest one. Kind of annoying they ship it local in Office rather than placing it in Windows...

Thanks,
