I downloaded I think the standard version a couple of days ago. The edition you are using will be displayed in the caption bar (the blue bar at the top of the application) after the .urd filename.
If you are using the Standard version, try using the Professional version instead, only the Pro version supports pdf files... |

Ah, that must be it. What a plonker I am. I did see the comparison table when I chose the download too, but my recollection was PDFs were included in the standard edition. Would perhaps be an idea to prompt users to upgrade editions if they try to use a feature in a superior product. The edition type is not in the blue bar though - it just has "database_name.urd Ultra Recall"
