Uncontrollable URL
When you have a URL in a text data item (e.g., www.nominet.org.uk) and you click on it, it opens the URL in your browser, which is what I'd expect. However, if you then try to click somewhere else in the data item, to add more text, for example, the cursor remains in the URL and opens it in the browser again. The only way I can get out of this is to click somewhere other than in the data item in UR (e.g., on another tab).
Is there a setting to get UR to release the cursor after activating a URL? |

I can't reproduce this problem, what is the exact text of the text item?

Try moving to the end (Ctrl+End) of the text and press Enter.

The text is:
renewed automatically by them. Www.nominet.org.uk. Whois shows renewal When I click on the URL the required page opens in Firefox. If I want to go back to UR (which is maximised on another monitor) I can't click anywhere in the data item contents without the URL being opened in the browser yet again, unless I click somewhere else in UR first. It seems UR gets activated by the mouse click but that doesn't move the cursor. |

We can't reproduce the behavior your describe...
Which browser is your default? Please provide the info from Help | About | Install Info (in Ultra Recall). |

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the only way we have ever seen this type of situation occur is when no line feed follows the url in the text.
What happens if you: 1) focus Ultra Recall (by clicking on its caption bar or using Alt+Tab) 2) click Ctrl+2 (to focus the Item Details Pane) 3) click Ctrl+End (to move the cursor to the end of the text) 4) click ENTER (to add a line feed to the end of the text) This will add a line feed without the use of the mouse... |

There is no problem if I "focus Ultra Recall (by clicking on its caption bar or using Alt+Tab)". I can then click wherever I want in the Details Pane. It's probably just down to the way Windows works.

If you complete steps 1-4 as requested, then try to navigate directly with the mouse, does the problem continue to occur?

Yes, after doing that, if I click on the URL to open it in Firefox and then click back in the Details Pane, the URL open in Firefox again. To stop that happening I have to click somewhere else in UR before clicking in the Details Pane.

I can confirm this behavior. The same thing happens for me. I performed steps 1-4 and the problem is still there. I am using Firefox 2.0.

I can't reproduce this behavior w/ UR 2.0e, Win XP SP2, riched20.dll v5.50.99.2010, and either Firefox 2.0 or IE 6.0 as the default browser. I assume you have 'Tools | Options | Browser | Launch shortcuts in external browser window by default' checked, or how do you open the link externally?
The behavior I get, which is standard for Windows rich edit controls (which is what the details pane of a UR text is), is that the first click anywhere in the control activates UR but doesn't change the selection or launch a URL. The 2nd click then changes the selection or launches a URL if clicked on. This occurs with or without a newline after the text content and whether the text contains only a URL or text URL text. |

When you hover over a URL in the details pane, the cursor changes to a hand. If you click where the hand is pointing, the web page opens in the external browser. When you then click anywhere in the details pane, the shortcut gets opened in the external browser again. The hand cursor doesn't appear; you can see that the insertion point is in the middle of the URL.
