Anyone used VisualBuild for managing component repository

I'm trying to improve our config management process and thinking that VisualBuild may help there too.

We primarily develop using VB6 and C#, and use both home-grown and 3rd party OCX controls in a number of projects. A major issue right now is developers being able to switch between using different versions of OCX controls. We don't have a controlled component repository yet but I'm thinking we should create one. With VisualBuild I could then write a script that all developers could use to easily get a specific "component pack" from SourceSafe and have them all registered on their dev machines. We could also reuse on build machines.

Has anyone tried this kind of thing before? Got any tips?
