OK, I've found the solution to 2 and 3:
Open "Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types" Choose the file extension, for example DOC Click the "Advanced" button Check "Browse in same window" Useful for other frustrated users, and perhaps Kinook might like to add this to their help and sample files. Problem 1 remains .....
