pop up ads, NOT

If I'm going to use UR's IE based browser, how do I get rid of the damned pop ups? Thank you.

UR does block any popups in the internal browser that it receives notification about (if the related option is checked). UR may not receive notification for all types of popups; it can only prevent the popup when it is notified. If the sites you are visiting use advanced popup display techniques, you may have to use another browser.

Advanced popup display techniques.... what does that mean? IE has pop up blocking doesn't it? Is IE behind FF when it comes to pop ups? It's much more convenient to use a UR internal browser than not so I'd like to find a way to improve the situation. Is this not possible? Thank you.

UR's built-in popup blocker pre-dates the one IE added in Windows XP SP2. It can only block some popup methods.

It turns out that the IE popup blocker can be also enabled in an embedded browser instance via a registry setting, as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...pSp2Compat.asp (Pop-up Blocker section).

Importing the attached .reg file and restarting UR will cause UR's internal IE browser to honor popup blocking if enabled in IE proper. The documentation implies that this is specific to Windows XP SP2, so it may or may not work on earlier Windows releases.

Thanks for your foloup to the pop-up issue. I followed the URL & read the article referenced. I've installed the registration fix on my w2k machine. So far so good. Let's see what happens. I'll report back if I encounter another pop up.

Every once in a while, UR's details page content disappears. All types of content.

The first time I panicked but then decided to close/re-open URp. That cleared the problem. Unfortunately I can't document conditions/when/how this happens.

So now I'm experencing two display-type problems that might be connected:

(1) URp jumps to ontop of all other programs
(2) data in data detail page disappears

I don't know where to start looking.

If you can provide details steps to reproduce this behavior, we'll investigate.

One possibility: Currently, if you navigate from an item with a form to a web page, the detail area could display blank. This will be fixed in the next build.

I wish I could. There is nothing discernable that happens. It's not like I open a specific program or open a # of windos in UR. Maybe it has something to do w a global keyset. I'll have to check that but otherwise it's a total mystery to me.

In v3.03 one of the fixes is "Enable IE popup blocker in embedded browser (if turned on in IE)." I assume the reg fix supplied here is the XP pop up bloacker which is not available in IE6 on a w2k machine. If there is a setting I'm supposed to change in IE6, itself, please tell me where it is as I couldn't find it as I just got another pop up today. Thanks.

In IE 6 on Win XP SP2, Tools | Pop-up Blocker | Turn On Pop-up Blocker.
