Item attributes vs. form fields: are they the same?

Dear Kinook,
I have a template that uses a custom form I created. This form was build using attributes I also created. However, when I select this item I see none of these form attributes listed in the item attribute pane. What does this mean?

- does it matter if these custom attributes show in the item attribute pane? If not, is having them on the form as good?

- What actually associates a new attribute to an item, putting it on a form or inserting it in item attribute pane or may be both?

Thank you

Whether an attribute exists for a particular item depends on its existence in the item's template, not its form.

Attributes can be created/modified in either a form (if associated with the item's template) or the Item Attributes pane. If an attribute is edited within a form, it will be added to the item if it doesn't yet exist for that item. Alternatively, if an attribute is inserted in the Item Attributes pane, it will also be updated to reflect the change within the form.
