Global search and replace and batch change

Hi,

I looked and couldn't find this capability; maybe you could incorporate it in the next release?

I need the ability to globally search and replace text, and not just within the items themselves, but also in the item attributes.

Additionally, let me select items randomly and then if they have an item attribute in common, e.g., a file path name, let me change the attirubte in one and have all selected items be updated with this change too.

Make both undoable of course.

Thanks.

Regards,
Bal

This is on the list for a future release.

You can already edit common attributes with multiple selection.

Well - sort of. But let's say I have several files in a folder (could be 5; could be 500) and have imported them into UR. And suppose I move the actual files to another folder.

So at first it would be:

path\folder1\file1
path\folder1\file2
path\folder1\file3

And then I move the files to folder2

path\folder2\file1
path\folder2\file2
path\folder2\file3

I'd like to be able to edit all the instances of folder1 so it becomes folder2. But I don't want to do a global S&R because I might still have some files in folder1. This makes sense, yes?

The section in the manual doesn't show how to do this.

In fact, let me go one better... If I drag a file from one folder to another and UR is running, let UR track the change and update the import meta-data dynamically.

Thanks.

Bal

I have a similar request.

If I can't automatically update the URL, I would like to atleast create a search that would find the "folder1" that I want to change and manually update it. I created a search with the item/attribute set to "URL" and Comparison set to "contains keywords" and I got no results. It does work for a URL that points to a web site though.

Use an advanced search of URL matches wildcard *some part of URL*
