When UR detects that the drive it's run from is removable, it reads/writes that information from files in the .exe path (otherwise, they are stored at %APPDATA%\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall). Examine the timestamps of
1) Layout*.dat in the UltraRecall.exe path on the USB drive 2) %APPDATA%\Kinook Software\Ultra Recall\Layout*.dat after exiting the portable version. If the changes are in #2, it may not be identifying your drive as removable. What sort of USB drive do you have?
