Import file store textual PDF vs. graphic PDF

I could use some help and advice on importing a textual PDF file into UR.

I am using the --- "Files" option on the "Import - Select Source" dialog, and then proceeding. I proceed to "Import - Select Files" and give the path to the PDF file I wish to import.

I select the option to -- Store files contents in Ultra Recall.
There is a greyed out option with a checkmark saying -- Do not process documents for text, summary or icon information.

I proceed and UR -- performs the import.

If the PDF file is basically graphic information (non-searchable within a pdf reader) -- the import performs as I expect. UR stores the file, and shows a link to open the stored document, and a link to open the original file.

However if the PDF file is Textual information (searchable within a pdf reader) --
the import creates an info item -- showing me text. Likely not as well formatted as in the original PDF file.

In both cases the -- Item Attribute -- is Document.

The Textual type of PDF is not being processed as I expect. I want to just store the PDF file itself within UR.

Bug? Comments? Advice?

The PDF is likely being stored in both cases -- one way you can tell is [Stored] appended to the title in the Item Details pane when selecting the item. If so, Item | Open Document (Ctrl+J) can be used to open the PDF externally to UR.

Can you send the info from

It sound like UR is displaying the text content for the PDF that it could parse text from, but I would need to see how you have things configured in order to determine that.

Thank You Kinook Software.

Kinook quickly took a look at my problem. It was just some confusion on my part.

Here are some hints that he gave me. Kinook told me in part the following:

======
You can use Item | Open Document or Ctrl+J for either one to open/edit externally.

UR was able to parse text content from the TextPage01 document (see shot3), which is why it is displaying that in the Item Details pane.

If you don't want that to happen, add .pdf to 'Tools | Options | Documents | File extensions to edit/view externally'.

The reason the title on the Graphics document was changed was because it has a title defined (while the Text one didn't), which UR used for the item title. See shot4 and shot5.

If you don't want that to happen, uncheck 'Tools | Options | Import (More) | File Import | Use document title for item title if available' before importing.

You can also configure PDFs to rendering internally in a PDF reader. See
