Functional Difference between Outlook viewers and Item Items

Referring to the sample Outlook.urd, what are the functional differences between the Outlook viewers and Info Items?
Of course, the viewers are based on html and Info Items on the form. They appear to be the same functionally. How about the disk space? Are the contents of the viewers keyworded automatically?

The Detail Pane is the UR internal broswer.

The scope of what the internal browser can render can be seen at Tools | Options | Documents - File viewers (MIME and Image), also Tools | Options | Browser - Files to display.

For keywording see Tools | Options | Import - Keywording. There's also a good discussion in the help file.

ashwken,

Thanks for your very helpful explanation, which adds a lot of clarity into my understanding of the internal brower and keywording.

I'm afraid I didn't explain my question clearly. My original question surrounds the sample Outlook.urd. For the same Outlook items (appointments, tasks, notes, messages) can be viewed in two places:
[1] the html-based viewers
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >
<head runat="server"><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"/>
<title>Inbox</title>
</head>
<body>
<object id=ViewCtlFolder classid=CLSID:0006F063-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 width="100%" height="100%">
<PARAM NAME="Folder" VALUE="Inbox">
</object>
</body>
</html>

[2] the formed-based Info Items.

Question: what are the functional difference(s) between the two?

The Outlook "viewer" is produced by Microsoft and is simply a way to "view" Outlook objects in Internet Explorer (and hence also in Ultra Recall as demonstrated in the sample).

Ultra Recall Info Items (created from Outlook objects) are independent "copies" (either from the mapped fields if "Linked") or also with a stored copy of the actual Outlook object as a stored .msg file if "Stored". This Ultra Recall Info Item can then be modified, linked, have other Info Items linked to it, and later resynced to the original Outlook item (if it still exists) to have the changes made in Ultra Recall "pushed" back to Outlook.

Kevina,

Thanks a lot for your crystal clear explanation.
Are the contents in Outlook "viewer" keywordable and searchable?
