How does "Limit Search to selected item in Data Explorer panel" work?
When I add a query to my Search window (linking to the original query, I guess) the "search only siblings" seems to become "Limit Search to selected item in Data Explorer panel".
I'd like to be able to search BranchX clicking the same place everytime, rather than having to navigate to s branch and click it. SCENARIO: I want to search my GTD "Next Actions" without having to navigate to \Active \ Active Next Actions. I saw somewhere someone mentioned creating a Query and then "Linking the Contacts directory to it". Maybe that would help? |

the easiest you can do is to use the relationship search (new in v 3.5):
include in your search "and (Item) is descendant of "Next Actions" " |

Re: cool feature!
cool, but more importantly very powerful, especially in combination with Search items. I see that you are working on GTD, check out the sample GTD file where this feature, Search+relationship, is used.

Hmmm. .... I don't see that
Where is the template you mentioned?
The most current template I see is in the install, called GTD.urd, date last modified: 3/19/08. But I don't see the user of the "is descendent of". So, perhaps I'm using an old template? Is there a newer GTD template? |

The "feature" I was talking about was meant in general, to be able to search on item relationships, not just "is descendant" in particular.
See "Active GTD -> Projects to advance": (Item) is NOT ancestor of "All active ..." which is actually a search item EDIT: See also Advanced Search.urd for more examples Last edited by quant; 08-22-2008 at 06:28 PM. |

Ahhh.... I see
Thanks.
I asked mostly because I thought there might be a newer/cooler GTD.urd template that I was missing. |
