Outlook message problems
I am using Outlook 2003 and trying to drag and drop email messages into the Child Items area to associate with a particular item (in this case a journal entry)
The system is responding "Error pasting text: No such interface supported" I looked around the forum and it seems like Ultra should support this function. Also how do I enable the email Item? I noticed it was in one of your sample db (GTD) and not in another (Journal). I can't seem to find the switch for instantiating that Item. |

We've had a few other users report this problem occurring intermittently; restarting Windows fixed the problem for them.
We haven't been able to reproduce this problem here, but we have made substantial changes to the Outlook integration code for the next release, and are hopeful that it will also eliminate this problem. If you're interested in being included in the next beta, send a request to support@kinook.com and we'll notify you when it's available. I'm unclear what you mean by enabling/instantiating an email item. You create an Outlook message in UR by copying/dragging from Outlook (or using the Outlook toolbar) to UR. |

RE: outlook message problems
I tried restarting everything I am still getting the same message, which is too bad. I really wanted to start using this but without the drag and drop, it makes it a lot more difficult to associate info.
Regarding the second item, I am referring to the Email System template. In your example DBs there is one in the GTD module but not in the Journal Module. I would like to use this template in the Journal as well. How do I do this? |

For your template item question: you can simpy copy the template item(s) from one urd file to another (using copy & paste or drag & drop).
Regarding the Outlook drag & drop problem, please download and execute the attached test console app. Please have Outlook running when you execute it (from a command prompt). If the test app succeeds, you will get output similar to this: C:\>otest.exe EntryID values on clipboard: EntryID=outlook:0000000039265A4ED10A6039264012E00 EntryID=outlook:0000000039265A4ED10A60392C4FB2D00 EntryID=outlook:0000000039265A4ED10A6039204FD2D00 The above output indicates that three objects are selected in Outlook. Other output would likely indicate an error occured, please post any output and/or email it to support@kinok.com for our review. |

Output from otest
I also sent this in to support@kinook.com
C:\>otest EntryID values on clipboard: EntryID=outlook:00000000D43F68F798BA044B994D1D6838 AFC04F64175000 Thanks for looking into this. |

We haven't seen the email (maybe it got trapped by a spam filter), but from your post it appears that the test app didn't fail. The test app, OTest.exe, has been updated to test more Outlook sync features, please try the same test, and email the results to us.
The simplest way to do that would be to extract OTest.exe to your system, then execute it from the command-line with this command: Code:
OTest.exe > log.txt |

Ultra Recall 3.0 Professional is now in beta, and it has much revised Outlook integration/synchronization capabilities, which may address the problem reported in this thread (we haven't been able to reproduce it to confirm).
If you wish to be a beta tester of version 3.0, send an email to support@kinook.com with this request (then please report back if the issue is resolved or not with this new version ). |
