Display problems

I am using Vista Businesss. Please see the attached screen cap of my Quick Search tab. Previously I reported problems with the calendar. That pane is still flakey for me, but the problem with the Search panel makes it very difficult to use the program. Yes, I am aware that I can selectively turn off the Vista visual enhancements for UR, but do I have to? The Classic Windows theme is a bit too retro for me.

I used to get those holes in my windows with XP usually in Outlook or Quicken, eventually with graphic driver updates they were less frequent and mostly occurred when I hadn't booted the system for a long time.

My experience with Vista Ultimate has been very good over the past 1.5 yrs on both a very low powered (Via) system with the Vista glass off and with a high powered desktop with everything on. Itunes seems to cause some display problems on occasion leaving a ghost of its image overwriting another programs window.

In UR, I found the calendar problem that you reported and the spell check wavy red line sometimes persists or extends to blank space. I have URp running at all times and most of the time it has its own monitor which might account for my mostly trouble free visuals.

I have elected to install the latest video drivers from the video card maker NVIDIA as they are released hoping to stay ahead of the visual glitches.

I couldn't reproduce that behavior on Vista. As $bill mentioned, you might try updating your video card driver.

The display is odd when I create a new item. What I mean is that the new item is not highlighted properly and it is hard to know what state it is in (edit mode?). See the screen cap for a better idea of what I am trying to describe. The last item has just beeen added, but you cannnot tell. It is not highlighted as it was in XP. Furthermore, the cursor (which you cannot see here) is positioned to the left of the last letter ("T").

That works properly here. Maybe another display driver oddity?

Perhaps so. I will test it on another Vista machine with a totallly different graphics card.

The reason I raised this is because you and $bill had initially speculated that the video driver was the problem when I identified a display problem with the calendar pane. This was fixed in 3.5.4.7, so it was not a driver issue. I wonder if this is a related matter.

The other issue we speculated about possibly being a display driver issue is the other one above, not the calendar problem.

If I read the posts from 03-31-2009 correctly, the implication was that the video driver needed to be updated, no?

Ah, I see. I guess I will be able to test this when I run UR on my other Vista machine. I will let you know.

It appears that it is a graphics card / driver issue. I am using the latest Nvidia driver. Another Vista machine handles the display correctly. Other than make compatibility adjustments, is there anything else to try?
