I tried the new version of Richedit; it didn't help at all. The problem seems sort of intermittent. I'll watch it a while longer. Maybe I can narrow the steps down to something reproducible.

Got it. It only updates if I modify the first item in the expression. I'd only been modifying the string which was second in order. I modify the date, and it changes. Thanks for the quick help.
